Catherine Cowen went to join the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Ghost on September 5, 1947. This is the order of the sisters at St. Mary's Hospital Watertown, Wisconsin. July 6, 1948 she became a novice and took the name of Sister Dennis in honor of her brother Dennis who was killed in Italy in 1944. Catherine taught in Jackson, and Greenville, Mississippi from 1953-1955. Catherine was a sister for nearly 9 years from the fall of 1947 until the spring of 1956. Graduate of Mercy Hospital, Osh Kosh, Wisconsin 1959 - R.N. and resigned in 1963. Catherine received her B.S. at the University of Wisconsin in 1968 and worked at the Veteran's Administration in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin.

"Madison— Frederick F. Festge, Jr., age 83, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017. He was born on March 7, 1934 in Madison, the son of Frederick and Bertha (Koch) Festge. He married Mary Catherine Cowen on Dec. 26, 1960 in Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Sun Prairie. Frederick was second in his class when he graduated from Edgewood High School in 1952. After graduation from UW College of Pharmacy, he worked for over 35 years as a Pharmacist at University Hospital.

Frederick was a man of common grace and uncommon wit. He was a good man. He lived his life actively within the community. He was a lifelong volunteer with many organizations including, 30 years with St. Martin House, LAMP, St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Pro Life Wisconsin, Knights of Columbus and as a lifelong Red Cross Blood Donor. Frederick cut a wide wake in this community.

Frederick is survived by his sons, Daniel and David Festge; grandchildren, Jordan, Jaedan and Justin Festge; sisters, Elizabeth Hillebrand and Bertha Festge; sisters-in-law, Helen Kaliany, Elizabeth Cowen, and Marvel Cowen;and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Frederick was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine, and three infant grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017, at 9:00 A.M. at ST. THERESE CHAPEL, 6039 Baltes Road, Waunakee, WI. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Madison. There will be a visitation on Thursday, June 15, 2017, from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at GUNDERSON FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, WI, with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M.
