Clarence Phillip Horning Born 22 Dec 1933 Great Falls, Cascade County, Montana, died 18 Oct 2013 Great Falls, Cascade County, Montana, age 79 years GREAT FALLS— Phillip Horning, 79, lifelong Great Falls resident who enjoyed skiing, golfing and spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at a local care facility. Clarence "Phillip" was born in Great Falls, Montana on Dec. 22, 1933 to Duke and Katie Horning. Phil married Donna Richardson on Jan. 6, 1953 in Great Falls. He was able to enjoy 20 years of marriage with his true love before she passed away on June 7, 1973. Phil immediately became a single father to six children, all of whom he showed deep love for throughout his life. Phil was a hardworking man, employed with Great Northern Railroad, Falls Electric and he worked full time for the city's road department and co-owned, along with his brother and sister, the family business, the Minneapolis House Bar. He was a longtime member of the Montana Tavern Association and was honored with the Durkee Award in 2008. "Grampa Phil" is survived by his 5 sons, daughter, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, sister-in- law, and was looking forward to a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Marie Horning; parents Clarence Joseph "Duke" and Catherine Ann "Katie" Horning; and siblings Thomas Clinton Horning and Shirley Marie Higbee.
