"Died, Peter, the four year old son of Mr. and Mrs. P. Rooney, on Thursday, January 30, in the town of Bangor, after an illness of about a week. Pete was an unusually active and healthy boy of this age and his death will be a great surprise to his numerous friends, and a sad loss to the grief-stricken parents who have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community."

Cause of death: Sore throat.
