Joseph Arthur Luhm Born 4 Feb 1905 Pawhuska, Osage County, Oklahoma, died 9 Mar 1996 Shelton, Mason County, Washington, age 91 years Joseph Arthur Luhm, 90, of Shelton, died Thursday, March 9, 1995, in Fir Lane Terrace Convalescent Center, Shelton. He was born Feb. 4, 1905, in Osage County, Okla., to John Augusta and Allie (Avery) Luhm. He moved to Washington in 1935. Mr. Luhm married Irene O'Brien on April 27, 1926, in Hobson, Mont. He was employed in Shelton as a welder and millwright at Rayonier and with Grays Harbor Pulp Mill, retiring in the late 1960s. He was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church. Mr. Luhm is survived by two sons, John L., Olympia, and Albert, Shelton; a brother, John W., Shelton; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife April 9, 1994. A private interment will be Friday, March 10, in Shelton Memorial Park. Luhm, 89, Shelton, died Saturday, April 9, 1994, in Fir Lane Terrace Convalescent Center, Shelton. She was born Dec. 25, 1904, to J.W. and Mary Ann (Rooney) O'Brien in Hobson, Mont., where she was graduated from high school. She attended nursing school in Montana. She was married to Joseph Luhm on April 27, 1926, in Hobson, Mont. Mrs. Luhm moved to Shelton in 1936. She and her husband bought a farm in Elma in 1954 where they resided before returning to Shelton in 1975. She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church. She and her husband enjoyed their winters in Yuma, Ariz. Besides her husband of Shelton, surviving Mrs. Luhm are two sons, John L. Luhm, Olympia, and Albert Luhm, Shelton; a brother, Ray O'Brien, Shelton; a sister, Margaret Moore, California; also six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Mrs. Luhm will begin 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, in McComb Funeral Home, Shelton, Rev. Dominic Hahn, O.S.B., will officiate. Interment will follow in Shelton Memorial Park. John Leonard LuhmBorn 4 Mar 1927 Lewistown, Fergus County, Montana, died 29 Jun 2010 Olympia, Thurston County, Washington, age 83 years John Leonard Luhm was born on March 4, 1927 in Lewistown, Montana to Joseph and Irene Luhm and passed away in Olympia on June 29, 2010. He moved with his family from Montana to Shelton in the mid-1930s and served in the Navy during the waning years of WWII. On August 1, 1947 he married Frances M. Buchanan and together they lived in Shelton and the Mason and Thurston County area throughout their marriage. He spent 38 years working as a welder/millwright for ITT Rayonier. John was an active member of the 40 et 8 Voiture 135 and American Legion Post 31, serving as 40 et 8 Grand Correspondent for more than 25 years. He developed treasured friendships through these organizations and enjoyed participating in veterans' activities for more than 50 years. He was a hard working man who loved his farm, his family, and chasing a bargain at heavy equipment auctions.
