Michael "Mickey; Michael L" Rooney, son of Michael ""Daddy Mick"" Rooney and Catherine ""Mammy Kitty"; Catharine on gravestone" Caulfield. Born 1809 Galway, Ireland, died 6 May 1878 Wakefield Township, Outaouais, Quebec, Canada Event Description: St. Camillus Catholic Cemetery, Farrellton, Quebec, Canada, age 68 or 69 years, buried Farrellton, Outaouais, Quebec, Canada Married 9 Jul 1838 Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, age 28 or 29 years (married 21 years) to: Maria "Marie or Maria" Tracy, age by marriage approximately 20 years Born ± 1818 Ireland, died 14 Feb 1860 Wakefield Township, Outaouais, Quebec, Canada Event Description: St. Camillus Catholic Cemetery, Farrellton, Quebec, Canada, age approximately 42 years, buried Farrellton, Outaouais, Quebec, Canada This family is in the 1851 census of Canada East (Quebec), Ottawa (county), Wakefield. Joseph is not listed there, however. The "Tracy" name seems to disappear in the Gatineau valley after the 1861 census. Children: 1. Catherine RooneyBorn 18 Apr 1839 Canada Michael and Mary have a "Catherine." However, in the 1861 Wakefield census of Canada, there's another Catherine Rooney living with them, listed as a servant, age 21 (b. 1840). This is probably Michael's brother Patrick Rooney's Catherine (possibly born in 1838 instead of 1840 - or splitting the two, since only their ages are listed, born in 1839 if the census months differ). Adjacent to this Catherine in the census is "Theodore Grovent" (my best guess at the spelling), age 21 (b. ~ 1837). He cannot be found under any of several permutations of the names Gavotte or Grovent in any of the censuses from 1871 1891 for all of Ottawa county. 3. All eight of the children (one to be born) are listed in the June 1905 Minnesota State census in "Missabe Mountain," St. Louis County, Minnesota. They're in the 1910 census under the name "Romey" in Virginia with nine children (out of 10, one having died). Joseph Patrick is a bartender. 9.
