He spent the rest of his working years as a farmer and lived on a farm until hospitalized three weeks before his death. Frank died at the Glenwood Community hospital at the age of 97 from pneumonia and the infirmities of old age. Landwehr, 97, Sedan, were held from the Immaculate Conception church of Sedan on Saturday, April 27, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Francis Britz officiating at the funeral Mass. Interment was in Sedan Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers were Clarence and Clemens Landwehr, Ozzie Stepan, Ben and Joe Terhaar and Russell Egan. Frank John Landwehr was born in St. Augusta township, Stearns county, October 22, 1865, the son of Henry and Gertrude Landwehr. November 26, 1908, he was united in marriage to Mary Rooney. He first appears with the family in the 1930 census at the age of 14. There may have been a daughter who was adopted as well, Agnes, but she doesn't appear in any census. He was postmaster in Sedan and had a taxidermy shop. |
