HAMPTON - John Peter Raden, 82, a native of Avon, Minn., and a Peninsula resident for 50 years, died Friday, April 17.

Mr. Raden retired from the Hampton Veterans Administration Medical Center after 30 years. He was a World War II veteran, a member of Knights of Columbus Council 511 and a member of Nocturnal Adoration Society.

Survived by his wife, Sophie Raden; a daughter, Mrs. Steven A. Vetter of Norfolk; a son, Richard Raden of Zephyrhills, Fla.; two sisters, Irene Machren of Avon and Lucille Sheik of Waite Park, Minn.; six stepchildren; and four grandchildren.

Wake at 7 p.m. Monday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by the Rev. Nicholas Helldorfer.

Visitation following wake until 8 p.m.

Funeral 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church by the Rev. James R. McDonald. Burial in Parklawn Memorial Park.

John P. Raden, 82, a retired civil service employee, died April 17, 1992, in his home.

Mr. Raden was born in Avon, Minn. He had retired from the supply building of the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Sophie Raden; a daughter, Carol S. Vetter of Norfolk; a son, Richard E. Raden of Florida; two sisters, Irene Maehren of Avon and Mrs. George Sheik of St. Cloud, Minn.; and four grandchildren.

Services were held April 21. R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home handled arrangements.
