Philippi, age 82 Cold Spring August 27-1924 – November 6, 2006 Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2006 at St. James Catholic Church in Jacobs Prairie, MN for Muriel M. Philippi, age 82, who died Monday at the Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish prayers will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by the St. James Christian Women at 4:30 p.m. Muriel was born in St. Wendel, MN to Andrew and Clarinda (Rooney) Murphy. She married Elmer Philippi on April 22, 1946 in St. Mary's Cathedral, St. Cloud, MN. She graduated from St. Cloud Teachers College in 1944 and taught school in St. Stephen, St. Wendel and Jacobs Prairie. Muriel was an avid quilter, crotchetier, baker and immaculate housekeeper. She loved "white" laundry, old time dancing, straight curtains and even hanging shades. She was a member of St. James Parish, Christian Women and Cold Spring and St. Joseph Legion Auxiliaries. Survivors include her children, Jeannie (Gerry) Nelson, Pattie (Mike) Liestman, Mark (Betty) Philippi and Susan (Scott) Cheeley; 11 grandchildren; 13 (+1 forth coming) great grandchildren; twin sister, Myra Scherer; sister, Mildred Egerman; brother, Joseph Murphy. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer (11-12-95); sons, Roger (1-24-66) and Andrew (2-15-56); parents; brothers, Thomas, Rahlin and DeWayne Murphy.
