*Records and family state Patty's mother's name as Mary Catherine "Katie", rather than the reverse that is inscribed on her headstone. The headstone is incorrect; she never went by Mary, only Katie. Following her husband's death, Katie changed her last name to her mother's maiden name, Fontaine. **Patty's husband, Gordon Arne Flikeid's obituary, says they were married on 28 Sep 1955; however, their headstone states 17 Dec 1955. They eloped to Iowa on 28 Sept 1955, and later married in the Catholic church on 17 Dec 1955. Priest required them to live apart for a while before the church wedding would be performed.

Patty was raised by her mother and stepfather, Charles Franklin "Charlie" Karkalits, but was not adopted by him. She changed her name from Marcella Grace Murphy to Patricia Clare between one and two years after she was married (used original given name on oldest child's Minnesota Birth Index). The surname, Murphy, was supposedly from Patty's father; they both used Murphy in 1940 US Census while living with Patty's aunt and uncle. Actually, Murphy never existed. Patty's father was in actuality David Fayette Pangburn. They were unmarried and Katie put Murphy on the birth certificate. DNA of Patty's daughters proved this connection.

Patty divorced Gordon around 1961 after the birth of their 4th daughter. She later married John Baker. They also divorced.

In May 2018, Patty's ashes were interred in Orem City Cemetery with her husband, Gordon Arne Flikeid, to honor the wishes of their four daughters.

Early Life: Gordon was born October 22, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Arne Allen and Alice Barbara Kinzel Flikeid. He was from Norwegian and German heritage. He grew up on Wentworth Avenue with his parents, siblings and paternal grandparents. His maternal grandparents and three aunts lived next door. His maternal grandfather built both homes. He had a wonderful childhood.

Interests: He served as Crew Chief on a P-47 in the United States Air Corps in Straubing, Germany during World War II. Gordon graduated from the Univ of Minnesora in 1951. He married Patricia Clare "Patty" Murphy on September 28, 1955. They had four beautiful daughters together. Gordon later purchased his family home where he grew up when his mother remarried and continued to live there with his daughters until they left home. They were affectionately referred to as, "Gordy and the girls." He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1974. He was a lifetime member of VFW and a 66-year member of IBEW. He worked for Collins Electric as an electrician and later, in the office, then formed ABC Energy Management in 1982. He moved to Orem, Utah, in 1990. They were sealed as an eternal family in the Provo Utah LDS Temple on March 17, 1993. Gordon served an LDS mission to Nauvoo, Illinois, from 1993 to 1994, and a second LDS mission to Laie, Hawaii, from 1998 to 1999. He used his electrical skills on both missions, rewiring both Historic Nauvoo and the Polynesian Cultural Center. Gordon Arne Flikeid passed away peacefully April 27, 2018, in Orem, Utah. He was 91.
Survived By: His four daughters: Catherine "Kitty" A. Badger (Farrell), Anita A. Lewis (Lynn), Dawn A. Norton (Scott) and Carlanne "Annie" P. Bray (Daniel); 35 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren.
