Mrs. Michael Daley Dies in 88th Year
The death occurred on Wednesday at a local hospital of Mrs. Mary Ann Daley, widow of Michael Daley, in her 88th year. The former Mary Ann Mullin, she had been ill only a short time.

Born in Chelsea, Que., Mrs. Daley was for many years a resident of the farming community at Brennan Hills, Que., but after the death of her husband she moved to Venosta, Que., where she made her home with her son, William.

She was a member of St. Martin's Church, Martindale, where she also belonged to the League of the Sacred Heart.

Left to mourn are two sons, William, of Venosta, and George, of Maniwaki.

The body is resting at the parlors of McEvoy Brothers, 235 Kent street, corner Nepean, from where the funeral will be held on Saturday at 8 a.m. to St. Martin's Church for requiem high mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial at parish cemetery.

George is in the 1891 census in Low, Canada with the Mullen family: James and Jane, both age 65, and their kids. But his mother was a Mullen. He is in the 1901 census in Maniwaki as a domestic with the James and Bridget McAuley family. He is in the 1911 census of Low, married to Ellen and with the two oldest children.

George C. Rooney of Venosta Dies
George Charles Rooney, of Venosta, Que., died Monday in hospital at Gatineau, following a lenghty illness. He was 76.

Born and educated in Farrellton, he was a son of the late William Rooney and the late Mary Ann Mullin.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Ellen Coyle whom he mattied in Martindale, Que., in 1908.

Mr. Rooney farmed in the Venosta district all his life.

He attended Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Venosta, and was a member of the League of the Sacred Heart.

He is survived by four sons, Harold and Willard, both of Venosta; Thomas, of Valleyfield, Que., and Charles, of Douglas, Ont., three daughters, Mrs. Mary Kelly of Venosta, Mrs. Charles Lamarr (Dorothy) of Laurel, Florida, and Mrs. Lambert Brunke (Kathleen), of Stratford, Ont., and a brother, William, of Ottawa.

The body is at the McEvoy Brothers' funeral home, 235 Kent Street. Funeral will be held Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Venosta, for service at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow in St. Martin's vemetery, Martindale, Que.

On October 7, 1908 Willam James Rooney came from Venosta, Province of Quebec, Canada (it actually says "Penosta, P.Q., Canada") where he was visiting his mother, Mary A. Rooney. He was going to join his Uncle J.P. Rooney in Virginia, Minnesota.

William James Rooney's WWI draft registration card in June 1917 lists his employer in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin (works with a steam shovel) but his home address as Virginia, Minnesota, his mother dependent on him. In addition to his uncle, his second cousin, James Dennis Rooney, is also there.
