Got his pilots license and d iscovered America with his children in a single engine airplane durin g month long vacations to the south and west. Upon retirement in 1978, sold his long-time home in south Minneapoli s and spent the next several years on the open sea sailing the beautif ul catch 'Chautauqua,' to pacific ports in Mexico, Canada, and the U.S . Traveled extensively in Europe and Asia. Made pilgrimage to visit ma ternal homeland in beloved Ireland. Had an abiding faith in the Lord and a courageous spirit that will rem ain an inspiration to his family and those he touched around the world .
