MARINETTE, Wis. — David Daniel Darcy M.D., 62, died Sunday at Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette, Wis.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home in Marinette. Funeral mass is 11 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Parish-Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Marinette Wis., with burial in Forest Home Cemetery.

David is survived by five of his seven siblings, Sal, Joe, Pat, Tom and Francie; his children Sara D. Seaborg and her husband, Thor, of Sand point, Idaho, Robert Darcy of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Uri Gressel and Samuel Darcy of Marinette; one grandson, Finn Darcy Seaborg; a siste r-in-law, Ann Wettlaufer; special friend, Teri Kelly of Peshtigo and a dear family friend, Marjorie Bjork of Marinette. A brother, Mike , and a sister, Mary, preceded him in death.

He was born on Nov. 22, 1942, in Lewistown, Mont., the second youngest of eight children, to Emmett Darcy and Frances White. His mother died suddenly when he was four.

David, known as "Danny" in his Montana hometown, attended St. Leo's School through twelfth grade, when he graduated at the top of his class in 1960. The following fall, he matriculated at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash., where he worked to pay for his studies toward a bachelor's degree in philosophy. Following graduation, he joined the Peace Corps where he taught school children in Malaysia and met Rayne Farquhar of St. Davids, Pa., whom he married in 1967.

Upon returning to the states, he was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. Stationed in Germany, he made several tours in Vietnam where he was awarded three Purple Hearts. During this time Rayne gave birth to their daughter, Sara.

When he had completed his military service, he moved with his young family to Minneapolis, Minn., where he enrolled in the University of Minnesota Medical School, and saw the birth of his son, Bob. At this time , Rayne was diagnosed with cancer, which she battled for the next several years. After graduating with his M.D. in 1973, David moved with his family to Marinette to join the Marinette Medical Clinic. After Rayne's death in 1977, David remarried in 1984, a marriage that resulted in the blessing of a stepson, Uri, and the birth of another son, Samuel .

David was a cherished doctor in the area, with many loyal and loving patients. He devoted himself to their care and to lending them an attentive ear. He extended his professional life to the less fortunate of the world, serving as a doctor in mission groups with Save the Children in Brazil, Africa, Central America and other parts of the developing world.

For many years he was an avid runner, devoted to physical training and competing in numerous marathons. He engaged in mountain climbing in the western United States and was known to travel around the world to observe solar eclipses. He was also a voracious reader of books covering a broad range of interests.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Twin Counties Free Clinic are suggested. Donations may be sent to the funeral home at 610 Marinette Ave., Marinette, WI 54143. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hansenonionmartell.com.
