 Martha Ann Rooney, daughter of James Rooney and Anne "Annie" Egan.Born 19 Nov 1883 Raymond Township, Stearns County, Minnesota, died 14 Jul 1963 Brooten, Stearns County, Minnesota, age 79 years, buried Padua, Stearns County, Minnesota The 1900 census says that Martha was born in October. Originally published August 1998, Padua Cemetery, by Ginny Walz Borgerding Martha Ann Rooney was the daughter of James and Annie (Egan) Rooney. Martha grew up on the family farm by Padua and then went on to school to be a teacher. She taught north of Brooten before marrying John Peter Jung (pronounced Joung) on June 28, 1905. Lavina Rooney (Marth's sister) and Peter Jung witnessed the wedding, this taken from the church records. After their marriage John and Martha moved to Kenmare, ND and homesteaded there. After a few years, John and Martha returned to the Sauk Centre area, and continued farming. John and Martha had three children: Ethel Young - married Franklin Halverson and had four children Kenneth Young - married Jean Kittleson and had two children Dorothy Young - married John Rosenberger, and is living in St. Cloud Martha and children lived with her parents and helped with the care of her mother, who had heart trouble. In 1919, after the death of her mother, they moved to Brooten with her father and there she worked as the Brooten telephone operator for several years. She then moved to Belgrade and lived there until her death. Martha died of cancer and is buried in Padua by her brother George, and parents James and Annie Rooney. John is buried in Sauk Centre. Funeral: St Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Belgrade, MN. Burial: in the parish cemetery. Kenneth operated the Brooten Cooperative Creamery from 1930 until moving to Belgrade in 1946 where he managed the Belgrade Creamery. He later was employed as a representative for Jack's Chemical Company and as a butter broker for C W Donnet Companyof Philadelphia until retiring in 1977. He assisted with maintenance at the Belgrade Nursing Home following his retirement. 3.
