Ashby Eugene "Gene" Stinnett Born 9 Sep 1927 Covington, Viriginia, died 13 Mar 2014 Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas Event Description: Greenwood Memorial Park, age 86 years Ashby Eugene Stinnett, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the age of 86. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Gene was born Sept. 9, 1927, to Ashby Linwood and Eva Yono Stinnett in Covington, Va., the sixth of eight children. He served in the U.S. Army then enlisted in the Air Force and was posted to Carswell AFB. He married Nora Margaret Shaw in June 1954 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic church in Fort Worth. Together they raised four children. He was employed by GMAC for 35 years, and was a longtime resident of Fort Worth and, more recently, resided in Crowley. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert; his sisters, Phyllis, Frances, Evelyn and Lucille; his wife, Nora; and by their first son, Michael Eugene. Survivors: His daughter, Julia Hummert and husband, Steve, of Grandview; sons, Christopher of Dallas and Martin and girlfriend, Rhonda Kennedy, of Crowley; granddaughter, Katie Nors and husband, Bobby, and their daughters, Grace and Lily; grandson, Michael Hummert and wife, Lauren, and their son, Mason; sister, Julia Tumbleston of Hollywood, S.C.; brother, James Stinnett of Martinsville, Va.; and numerous nephews and nieces.
