Lois remembers Edna for her books and homemaking skills. Edna attended the University of Minnesota for three years after Eden Valley high school. She married Thomas Tintes and they lived on the Tintes farm two miles east of Eden Valley until 1955 when they moved into town. After Thomas's death in 1964, she lived in the home where she lived with her parents and siblings 1919-1928.

Edna was quite interested in the family history and was the original one to type up all the letters from James Martin and others in Canada to William J. Martin in Minnesota.

Lois Marie (Tintes) Thielen, age 67, of Brooklyn Center, died June 30th of metastatic breast cancer. Was longtime community volunteer with Camp Fire Organization, Courage Center Home-crafters Gift Shop, Hennepin County Library Homebound Visitor Program and CEAP's Meals-On-Wheels. She was a part president of Brooklyn Center's Women's Club, active member of two book discussion groups, St. Alphonsus Over 50's Group and AARP Chapter 1370.
Lois was preceded in death by husband, Jerry; and is survived by 5 children and their spouses, Karen and Keith Markwardt, Maureen Thielen and Chuck Halvorson, Bob and Jackie Thielen, Jenny Thielen, Sandi and Keith Maile; and 8 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Thursday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 71st & Halifax Ave. N. Brooklyn Center. Visitation 5-8 PM Wednesday with Prayer Service at 7 PM at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, 6000 Brooklyn Center. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.

Pete Tintes spoke at both Prayer service and Mass of burial.
Lois stated in her book that she was confirmed with Grandma Martin in 1939, that Lois Martin said she would pay for Lois college if named after her. Lois remembered her freckles, history and art in school, roller skating, parents were strict, catechism, obeying parents & not dating until age 16.

Eden Valley - Katherine "Kaye" T. Ruhland, 87, died at Hilltop Care Center on December 18, 2017. A visitation will be held from 1-5 PM on Saturday, December 23 at the Gethsemane Chapel, Hilltop Care Center, 410 Luella St., Watkins,MN. Prayers will be held at 4:30 PM. A meal will be served at the Eden Lakeside following the visitation. Interment will be at the the family burial plot at St. Peter's cemetery in Eden Valley.

Kaye was born on September 11, 1930 on the family farm in Manannah Township to Thomas and Edna (Martin) Tintes. She graduated from Eden Valley High School in 1948. She attended the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul from 1948 to 1951 and studied English and Spanish. She married John J. "Jack" Ruhland on October 13, 1951 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Eden Valley.

Kaye dedicated her life to being a homemaker. She is survived by her children, Douglas (Diane) of Eden Valley, Paula of Mpls, John M. (Sandy) of Mpls, Patrick (Joyce) of Brooklyn Center, Andrea (Paul) Ruhland of Lakeville, Brenda (Brian) Bianchi of Austin, TX, Daniel of Roseville and James Bofenkamp of Coon Rapids, 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, sister Marjorie "Peg" Beauchaine ,brother David Tintes, sisters-in-law Bernice Grabber-Tintes, Mary Lou Ruhland, Eileen Tintes and brothers-in-law George M. Ruhland and Roy Kalkbrenner. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband , Jack; siblings, Lois Thielen, Thomas Tintes, Laura Kalkbrenner and Peter Tintes, brothers-in-law, Jerry Thielen, James Beauchaine, Ervin Ruhland, Richard Ruhland, and James McIntyre and sisters-in-law Mary McIntyre, Bernice Johnson, Lavern Ruhland and Jean Ruhland.

Headlines in Meeker County News for 1st week of March 1936: "LEAP YEAR BABY" IS BORN AT VALLEY. Meeker County's only known "leap year" baby is a boy born to Mr. and Mrs Tom Tintes of Eden Valley. Arriving Saturday, February 29, he will not have another birthday anniversary until 1940.

Peter Tintes, 68, Belgrade

Peter Edward Tintes, 68, of Belgrade, died Friday, July 2, 2004, following an automobile accident.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Spicer. Burial was in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Eden Valley.
Peter was born on Feb. 29, 1936, in Forest Prairie Township, Meeker County, Minnesota, the son of Thomas and Edna (Martin) Tintes. He was ra ised in the Eden Valley area where he graduated from Eden Valley High School in 1954.
He entered Nazareth Hall in St. Paul to begin his study for the priesthood. From there he went to St. Paul Seminary and was ordained on Feb. 2, 1963. He served parishes in Bird Island, Willmar and Raymond. While he was at Raymond, he was instrumental in developing an interdenominational religion in Life Center at Ridgewater College. He began teaching college courses in 1968, which the accompanying degrees taught, philosophy, sociology and psychology. He received his master's degree from Loyola University in 1973. The last part of his career he spent directing the programs training Chemical Dependency Counselors. He retired from teaching in 1997.
He was united in marriage to Bernice Grabber on April 11, 1988, on their farm near Belgrade. Together, they lived on their farm where Pete practiced organic farming.
Pete was an avid reader and worked with genealogy and the Kandiyohi County Historical Society. He was the precinct chair of the DFL.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Grabber-Tintes; sisters, Katherine (Jack) Rhuland of Eden Valley and Peggy ( Jim) Beauchaine of Wayzata; a brother, David Tintes of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Thomas, and sisters, Lois Thielen and Laura Kalkbrenner.

Lyle Martin: "Peter Edward Tintes attended minor seminary at Nazareth Hall and then St. Paul Seminary and was ordained in the St. Peter's Church by Bishop Schladweiller of the New Ulm Diocese on February 2, 1963. Father Peter was the assistant pastor at Bird Island and at St. Mary's in Willmar for four years and in 1967 he was assigned to the Sacred Heart Parish in Raymond where he remained until 1978. During those years at Raymond he worked for and with the campus ministry at the college in Willmar. He was subsequently stationed in Willmar and was campus minister at Willmar Junior College and Willmar Area Vo-Tech Institute"
