John Francis Erickson, 84, passed away December 7, 2013. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, 1230 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines. Family will greet guests one hour prior to service. Burial of cremated remains will take place at 12:30 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

John was born December 8, 1928 in Minneapolis, MN to George and Madonna Erickson. He graduated from North High School and continued on to Dunwoody College where he received his Bachelors degree in Engineering. After college, John served in the United Stated Navy for four years. He married his wife, Gertrude on June 18, 1955. John worked as a store engineer at Super Valu for 25 years, and retired from Taylor Industries after 15 years. John enjoyed to travel and golf. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gertrude; children, Paul (Teresa) Erickson, Peggy (Richard) Benning; grandchildren, Laurel (Charles) Larson, Lindsey (Ajay) Eshcol, John (Christina) Erickson, Meridith (Drew) Flickinger, Julie (Rigo) Felix and Jessie ( Pat) Duax; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Edgar (Janis) Erickson and Gerald Erickson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George and Thomas.

Gertrude Quam Erickson, 82, passed away October 14, 2016.

Gertrude was born on October 11, 1934, in Minnesota, to Henry and Dena Quam.

She married her late husband, John, on June 18, 1955.

Gertrude worked at Iowa Methodist Hospital for 34 years as a credit manager.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Gertrude is survived by her children, Paul (Teresa) Erickson, Peggy (Richard) Benning; grandchildren, Laurel (Charles) Larson, Lindsey (Ajay) Eshcol, John (Christina) Erickson, Meridith (Drew) Flickinger, Julie (Rigo) Felix and Jessie (Pat) Duax; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Carol Hass.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Henry and Dena; brother, Howard; and her sisters, Harriett and Dolly.

A Graveside service will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 9:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church.
