Elizabeth Jean "Betty" BrownBorn 4 May 1924 Fergus County, Montana, died 14 Dec 2009 The Dalles, Oregon, age 85 years Obituary for Elizabeth Jackson Elizabeth Jackson Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Jackson 1924- 2009 Betty was born at home in Central Montana near Lewistown on May 4, 1924. Her parents homesteaded there, and she grew up on a ranch with 2 brothers and a sister. All of whom came to eventually live in the Hood River Valley. It was on the ranch that she developed her love of animals, the outdoors and growing things. She died peacefully in her sleep on December 14, 2009 at Oregon Veteran's Home in The Dalles, OR at age 85. After high school, she traveled with a girlfriend all over the United States. During World War II, she worked in a munitions factory assembling shells. Later moved to Hood River to be closer to family and it was then that she met Gene and they married in 1946. She was always active in the youth activities programs, being a Camp Fire Girls leader, helping with junior bowling and junior golf programs. She worked as a bookkeeper, escrow agent, and legal secretary. The joys of her life were her family, her pets (she thought of them as members of the family) and her flower gardens, especially her roses. She enjoyed her friends, big family dinners, playing bridge, golfing, and picnics in the many parks around the valley. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Jackson, her parents, her sister, Mable Recksiek, brothers, Bob Brown and John Brown and her grandson Randy Losli. She is survived by her only daughter, Patty Jackson Losli and son-in-law Bob Losli, and 9 nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life is planned for spring 2010. Those wishing to may make a donation can do so to Hospice of the Gorge in her name. They gave her wonderful care during the last months of her life as did all the staff at OVH, and the family thanks them very much. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, OR 97031. |
