Edward Thomas Lane passed away at home May 3, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was born to Emmett Lane and Hazel Chase Lane in Bozeman, Mont., and was raised in the Three Forks, Mont., area. He is survived by his wife Kathryn V. Lane and daughters Tracey Lane Delaplain, Cheryl Lane Rotter and Esther Newby. He has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of 10 born into an Irish-American family, he has two surviving sisters and two surviving brothers. He worked over 25 years for Harvey's Hotel/Casino, where he served as engineering manager but just as often could be found down at the James Canyon Ranch providing ranching advice to Mr. Harvey Gross. Ed enjoyed sharing his love of fly fishing, horses, and hunting with his family. Living independently in Montana until health issues forced him to return to Nevada in 2010, Ed was well loved in both Nevada and Montana. A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. May 13 at St. Teresa's Chapel (the north portion of the church complex), in Carson City. In Big Sky Montana tradition, the family requests people dress western casual - boots and jeans are most welcome. Ed's final resting place will be in his beloved Montana.
