SUN PRAIRIE - Clarinda Ellen Neuer, age 72, died Monday, December 16, 1996 at the Belmont Nursing Home, Madison. She was born November 2, 1924, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Frank and Estella (Rooney) Cowen. She grew up in Watertown, and married Merlin Neuer in 1944. She also resided in Lake Mills, Sun Prairie, Fond du Lac, and Beloit. Prior to her retirement she provided foster care for the disabled, and worked as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
She is survived by three daughters, JoAnn Nowak of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Kathleen (Dennis) Calkins of Sun Prairie, and Peggy Neuer of New York, New York; five grandchildren, Tracy (Dan) Henderson, Jay (Can) Calkins, Brett Calkins, Rich Nowak, and Mitchell Nowak; three great-grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Henderson, and Christian Calkins; four sisters, Dorothy (Edward) Lukas, Catherine (Fred) Festge, Sara (Steve) Olson, and Helen (Hani) Kalian; 2 brothers, Thomas (Betty) Cowen and Pat (Ann) Cowen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers Dennis and James; and a sister Margaret Conger.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m.; on Thursday, December 19, 1996, at SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 227 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie, with Father Dave Flanagan officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home, 302 Columbus Street, Sun Prairie. Burial will be in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Jefferson.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to an Alzheimer's fund or The Sun Prairie Colonial Club.

SUN PRAIRIE - Patrick Cowen, age 79, died on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. He was born on Feb. 3, 1927, in Watertown, and was the son of Francis and Bridget Estella (Rooney) Cowen.

He married Ann Gassen in Waterloo on Sept. 6, 1948. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served from 1944 until 1946. He was a past member of the American Legion Post No. 333. Pat worked at Oscar Mayer in Madison for 36 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; his children, Michael (Beverly) Cowen of Beaver Dam, Karen (Theodore) Maasch of Las Vegas, Nev., Christine (William) Woolever of Wyocena, Patrick (Barbara) Cowen of Sun Prairie, Dennis Cowen (Lois) of Madison, Mary Kopmeyer of Princeton, Iowa, Colleen Serra of Chewelah, Wash., Virginia (Jon) Robinson of Pardeville, Theresa (John) Kruse of Sun Prairie, and Craig Cowen of Sun Prairie; a sister, Helen Kalian of West Allis; 33 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; five sisters; and a granddaughter, Maryanna Maasch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 227 Columbus St., in Sun Prairie, with Monsignor Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery in Sun Prairie, where graveside military rites will be held.

MADISON - Mary C. "Catherine" (Cowen) Festge, age 78, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on July 29, 1928, in Watertown, the daughter of Frank and Bridget Stella (Rooney) Cowen. Catherine was a graduate of Mercy Oshkosh Nursing School and U.W. Nursing School.

She was united in marriage to Frederick Festge on Dec. 26, 1960, at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in Sun Prairie. Catherine worked as a registered nurse at William S. Middleton Veterans Hospital. Catherine volunteered at Latin American Mission Program "LAMP" and at St. Martin House in Madison. She played organ at St. Martin House Chapel, taught piano and organ lessons, and tutored in literacy programs.

Catherine is survived by her husband, Frederick; two sons, Daniel Frederick Festge of Madison, and David Francis Festge of Stoughton; three grandsons, Jordan, Jaedan, and Justin; a brother, Patrick (Ann) Cowen of Madison; a sister, Helen Kalian of Milwaukee; brothers-in-law, Edward Lukas and Lyman Conger; and sisters-in-law, Marvel Cowen and Elizabeth Cowen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, Dorothy Lukas, James Cowen, Dennis Cowen, Clarinda (Merlin) Neuer, Thomas Cowen, Margaret Conger, and Sara (Stephen) Olson; a brother-in-law, Hani Kalian; three infant grandchildren; and several step-brothers and step-sisters.

A traditional Latin Mass will be said at ST. THERESE CHAPEL, 6039 Baltes Road, Waunakee, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, with Father Juan Iscara presiding. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Madison.
