Married ‎15 May 1922 Brooten, Stearns County, Minnesota, age 25 years (married 58 years) to:

womanMary Amelia Egan‏, age by marriage 25 years, daughter of Dennis "EAGAN, EAGEN, EGEN" Egan and Mary Ann Rooney‏.
Born ‎8 Jul 1896 New York, New York, died ‎15 Jul 1990 Benton County, Minnesota Event Description: Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud MN‎, age 94 years, buried Saint Cloud, Stearns County, Minnesota
Mary Emily Richards was one of the "orphan train" adoptees. The 1910 census lits two Mary E Egan's, both 13, both adopted, both born in New York. One of course is Eleanor M (or Mary Eleanor), and the other is Mary Emily. Her birth name was Richards.

Though not genetically an Egan or a Rooney, even though her "great grandfather" was Michael Rooney on the Padua side, she married William Edward Rooney whose great grandfather was John Rooney the Avon side. Thus by prior relationship they were 3rd cousins, but by consanguinity they were unrelated.

Ralph "Mickey" Everett Rooney
March 11, 1929 - July 2, 2022

Rooney, Ralph "Mickey" has entered the gates of heaven with a resounding "hip hip hoorah". We are sure he is chanting "who is the greatest of them all!"

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph "Mickey" Rooney, our beloved father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather, brother and friend to everyone who came into his presence.

Mickey passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 2nd 2022 at 93 years young. Mickey's love for God, his family and community shone brightly in the lives he touched and the joy he brought to this world needs to be continued on in the hearts of everyone he encountered. Mickey was the most kind and generous person and those that had the pleasure to call him friend know how devastating this loss is to the world.

Mickey had many loves, including playing Santa, a good cribbage game, being a successful real estate agent, gardening-especially his tomato plants, visiting those in need and volunteering in many capacities, but no greater love than his beautiful and devoted wife Margaret "Peggy" (McCollow ) Rooney, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Peggy and Mickey had an open house for anyone to stop in who wanted to have some fun, share in fellowship, play some cards or just talk about life.

Mickey is survived by his wife, Peggy; seven children, Cheryl, Suzette, Ann, Mary, Elizabeth, Ralph, Theresa; 19 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his sisters, Jan and Elaine; and brother, Harold.

Mickey was from a family of 12 children who grew up in St. Cloud during the depression. Dad had a zeal for life. Bringing JOY was his life purpose! The twinkle in his eye as Santa for 60 years was one of his most precious gift to many. Being able to spread that love to people everywhere! Mickey founded the "Nuns Snow Days" and supported the continuation thru Knights of Columbus, which he was a member for many years. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War. Mickey was so proud of the many awards he received, especially The Million Dollar Club in real estate and the Humanitarian of the Year.

In lieu of donations we ask you to perform a random act of kindness in Mickey's honor.

Patrick Rooney

The dazzling light of Patrick Rooney, born in St. Cloud, MN, has been added to the many beautiful souls in heaven. It is with tears of sorrow and joy that Pat, as he was known to many of his friends and family, left his wife, 3 children, and 10 grandchildren on earth to walk through the gates of paradise. Pat comes from a big, incredible family and is survived by his 3 brothers Mickey (aka Ralph), Ronnie, and Butch (aka Harold) as well as 2 sisters Elaine and Jan. There is no doubt that his brothers Donald and Dennis, and sisters Irene, Ione, and Marie, met him at the gates and carried him away to a grand reunion with all the glorious souls that preceded him. The earth has lost an amazing man who was known to show up unannounced with a big smile and a great story. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Red Cross, Alzheimer's Association (alz.org), or simply spread some joy with a small act of kindness in his name. There is no better way to celebrate a wonderful life than by taking a moment to make this world a better place!
